He moaned it into existence. Contract pinned below and in the X community. Beware of impostor tickers — there is only one Plenkton.
I. ABOUT
A single photoshopped frame of Plenkton with the eyes and mouth blacked out, the skin wrinkled, the image darkened and grained until it looks less like a cartoon and more like a stranger caught on a security camera at the bottom of the sea.
For over a decade it floated in obscurity, mostly attached to SpongeBob creepypastas. Then in late 2024, paired with a ghostly moaning sound effect on TikTok, it became the universal reaction image for the small, ugly indignities of being alive.
II. GENESIS
DeviantArt user Moopintot uploaded a photoshop of Plankton designed to be as creepy as possible: the image darkened, grain added, eyes and mouth blacked out, wrinkles and other features grafted onto his face.
It sat there. Quietly. Over fourteen years it gathered more than 29,000 views and the title Plenkton — half nickname, half typo — stuck.

◊ day 45 · the moan heard around the world
On 2 October 2024, the 45th daily upload — a grainy, low-res Plenkton paired with the ghostly moan — passed 900,000 views in three days and unlocked the sound for the rest of TikTok. Captions followed. Then everything did.
The account has since been banned. No videos from OP are available — the original 45-day archive only survives as reuploads and stitches.
